Healthcare and Lifestyle Medicine Clinic
ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT
This statement was last updated on 26 August 2026.
Our commitment
Medical Weight Care Ltd, trading as Medical Weight Care and Medical Wellness, wants everyone to be able to use this website and to use our clinics. We are a small single-doctor practice, and we would rather tell you plainly what we can offer, what we know is not yet right, and how to get hold of us if something gets in your way.
If you cannot use part of this website, or you need something from us in a different format, tell us and we will sort it out. You do not need to explain why.
Getting information in a different format
If you need anything we publish — a price list, a consent form, aftercare instructions, your own records, a letter — in a different format, ask us. We can provide:
-
Large print
-
Plain text, by email, that works with a screen reader
-
A document read aloud to you over the phone or in the clinic
-
More time in an appointment to go through written information
Email us or call and say what would help. We aim to respond within five working days.
Contact details are at the bottom of this page.
Using this website
This website is built and hosted on Wix. We have tried to make it work for as many people as possible. That means:
-
You should be able to change your browser's text size, or zoom the page, without content disappearing or overlapping
-
Text is dark navy or dark grey on a light background rather than pure black on white, which is easier on the eyes and holds up better at reduced contrast settings
-
Images that carry meaning have text alternatives
-
Pages are structured with real headings, so a screen reader can move through them
AbilityNet has clear advice on making your own device easier to use — changing text size, colours and contrast, or using a screen reader or magnifier.
How accessible this website is
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 at level AA. That is the standard used across UK public services, and it is the one we hold ourselves to, even though we are not legally required to.
We have not yet had this website independently audited, so we are not going to claim full conformance. We know of the following limitations:
-
Parts of the site are provided by third parties. Our online booking and payment is provided by Semble, and the site itself runs on Wix. We do not control the accessibility of those components, though we do raise problems with the suppliers when we find them.
-
Any PDF we publish may not be fully accessible to screen reader users. If you need the content of a PDF in another format, ask us and we will provide it.
-
We have not tested every page with every combination of assistive technology.
If you find something that does not work for you, please tell us — see Reporting a problem below. We will fix what we can, and where we cannot fix it quickly we will give you the information another way in the meantime.
Visiting our clinics
We want you to know what to expect before you arrive, rather than finding out at the door.
Yarm — First Floor (above Oxfam), 75a High Street, Yarm, TS15 9BG
This clinic is up one flight of stairs and there is no lift. There is a wall on one side of the staircase, and a partial handrest on the other that runs for roughly two thirds of the way up. There is no accessible toilet at this site.
We would rather say that plainly than have you make the journey and find out when you get here.
If you cannot manage those stairs, you have two options and we are happy with either:
-
See us at our Harrogate clinic instead. It has a step-free entrance, a lift, on-site parking with a marked accessible bay, and an accessible toilet — see below.
-
See us remotely. We consult by video and by telephone, and for a great deal of what we do that works perfectly well. Some things do need you in the room — blood tests, injections and physical measurements — and we will tell you honestly which parts of your care can be done remotely and which cannot.
Just tell us when you book. You will not be asked to justify it.
Parking. There are marked bays on the High Street outside, where the usual Blue Badge concessions apply, and there is a car park behind the High Street. A car can also pull up directly outside the door to drop someone off.
Harrogate — Suite 4.07, Windsor House, Cornwall Road, Harrogate, HG1 2PW
This clinic has a step-free entrance and a lift to our floor. There is an accessible toilet in the building.
Parking. There is parking on site, including a marked accessible bay.
At both clinics
-
Tell us before your appointment if you need extra time, a quieter environment, a chaperone, or someone with you in the consultation. Nobody needs to justify a request.
-
You are welcome to bring a family member, friend, carer or interpreter with you.
-
Assistance dogs are welcome.
-
If you need a British Sign Language interpreter, a language interpreter, or another form of communication support, tell us when you book and we will discuss what we can arrange. Please raise it in advance rather than on the day, so that we have time to organise something that actually works.
Reasonable adjustments
Under the Equality Act 2010 we have a duty to make reasonable adjustments so that disabled people are not put at a substantial disadvantage in using our services. In practice that means: if there is something about how we do things that makes it harder for you to get care from us, tell us and we will look at changing it for you.
We would rather you asked than went without.
Reporting a problem with this website
If you find an accessibility problem, or something on this site is not usable for you, please tell us. Include the page address and, if you can, what happened and what you were using — but a rough description is fine. We would rather hear about it imperfectly than not at all.
Email: [info@medwellness.co.uk — on medicalweightcare.co.uk, use info@medicalweightcare.co.uk] Phone: 07860 936668, Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm Post: Medical Wellness, First Floor (above Oxfam), 75a High Street, Yarm, TS15 9BG
We aim to respond within five working days.
If you are not happy with our response
Please tell us first and we will try to put it right. Our complaints procedure is at Patient Complaints Information.
If you are still not satisfied, the Equality Advisory and Support Service gives free advice on disability discrimination and can help you decide what to do next. You can reach them at equalityadvisoryservice.com or on 0808 800 0082.
